چکیده
This study focuses on the investigation of cavitating flow around benchmark INSEAN E779A model propeller with main aim further improving computational efficiency tip vortex cavitation (TVC) modelling by using a commercial CFD solver. Also, effects various key parameters including, numerical modelling, grid size, timestep, water quality and boundary layer resolution, TVC formation its extension in slipstream are investigated systematically. The simulations conducted uniform open conditions RANS, DES LES solvers implemented code, Start CCM+. In order to achieve study, an alternative new Vorticity-based Adaptive Mesh Refinement (V-AMR) technique is introduced for enhanced blades downstream. For cavitation, Schneer Sauer based reduced Rayleigh Plesset equation used sheet, hub cavitation. The hydrodynamic results cavity patterns validated experimental data. show that application V-AMR improves representation minimal increase cost. However, eddy viscosity at blade tips increases applying RANS solver due inherent errors solution inside vortex. consequently insufficient compared predictions solvers. evolution found be sensitive resolution when standard used. will help widen applications methods involving TVC, particularly induced underwater noise prediction analysis.

AMR + + : Object - Oriented Parallel Adaptive Mesh Refinement
Adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) computations are complicated by their dynamic nature. The development of solvers for realistic applications is complicated by both the complexity of the AMR and the geometry of realistic problem domains. The additional complexity of distributed memory parallelism within such AMR applications most commonly exceeds the level of complexity that can be reasonable main...
متن کاملNew Developments around Sheet and Tip Vortex Cavitation on Ships' Propellers
A concept of tip vortex cavitation on propellers is described qualitatively, leading to the distinction of trailing vortices, local tip vortices and leading edge vortices. Improvements of the inception behaviour using this distinction are presented. Observations on developed tip vortex cavitation are given to show that the concept of vortex bursting seems inadequate. The problem of "broadband" ...
متن کاملAn Adaptive Mesh Refinement Strategy for Immersed Boundary/Interface Methods.
An adaptive mesh refinement strategy is proposed in this paper for the Immersed Boundary and Immersed Interface methods for two-dimensional elliptic interface problems involving singular sources. The interface is represented by the zero level set of a Lipschitz function φ(x,y). Our adaptive mesh refinement is done within a small tube of |φ(x,y)|≤ δ with finer Cartesian meshes. The discrete line...
